ECU remapping for BMW diesel and petrol models, from the 1 Series to the X5, carried out at your home or workplace.
BMW's turbo engines respond well to a remap. The 2.0 four-cylinder diesel in models such as the 118d, 320d and 520d, and the 3.0 six-cylinder diesel in the 330d, 530d and X5, mostly gain mid-range torque: stronger pulling out of junctions, easier overtakes and less need to kick down. Turbo petrol models such as the 320i, 330i and M340i respond well too. What is sensible depends on the engine, the gearbox and the condition of the car, so every BMW is assessed on its own registration.
After a Stage 1 remap on his BMW 525d, Toby wrote in his Google review: “Feels like a completely different car.” The work is done where the car is parked, within around 20 miles of Swadlincote, so there is no trip to a workshop.

Most turbocharged BMWs can be, across the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Series and the X range, in diesel and petrol. Newer ECUs can need different access from older ones, so send the registration and it can be checked before the visit.
Usually, yes. Most modern BMWs use an eight-speed automatic, and the remap is set so the extra torque stays within what that gearbox is built to handle. Send the registration and engine for advice on that specific car.
It can. If a dealer updates the engine software during a service, the factory calibration can be written back over the remap. If the car is going in for updates, mention the remap so it can be checked afterwards.
BMW diesels respond well because the gain is felt where the car is driven most: low and mid-range torque. Results vary by engine and condition, and an economy-focused calibration is also an option.
