Stage 2 Remapping questions answered

What is a Stage 2 remap?

A Stage 2 remap is a calibration written for a vehicle that already has supporting performance parts fitted. Because the hardware has changed, the software is set up around those parts rather than the factory ones.

What modifications do I need for Stage 2?

It depends on the vehicle, but Stage 2 normally assumes upgrades such as a better-flowing intake, exhaust or intercooler. Send a list of what is fitted with the registration and you will get advice on whether the vehicle suits Stage 2.

Can I run a Stage 2 map without the supporting parts?

It is not a good idea. A Stage 2 calibration expects the extra airflow and cooling those parts provide, and running it on standard hardware can push temperatures and pressures beyond what the engine was built for.

Does Stage 2 put more strain on the clutch and gearbox?

More torque means more load through the drivetrain. Some vehicles cope comfortably, while on others the standard clutch becomes the weak point, so it is worth discussing before going ahead.
