ECU optimisation focused on smoother power delivery and improved efficiency where appropriate.
This calibration focuses on smoother power delivery and improved day-to-day efficiency rather than maximum power, and can suit vehicles used mainly for commuting or higher-mileage driving.
Remap Man offers mobile economy & driveability from Swadlincote, covering customers within around 20 miles, including Burton upon Trent, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Coalville, Tamworth, Derby and Lichfield. Economy & Driveability questions answered
What is an economy remap?
An economy remap is a calibration aimed at efficiency and smooth power delivery rather than maximum power. It usually adds torque low in the rev range so the vehicle needs less throttle and fewer gear changes for the same journey.
How much fuel will an economy remap save?
There is no fixed figure. Savings depend on the vehicle, the engine and above all how it is driven. Any improvement comes from driving with lighter throttle, so if the extra torque gets used for harder acceleration, the saving shrinks.
Will an economy remap make my car slower?
Usually not. Most economy calibrations add low-down torque, which tends to make a vehicle feel stronger at everyday speeds. They just do not chase peak power.
Which vehicles suit an economy remap?
Turbo diesels used for commuting, high-mileage driving, towing or carrying loads tend to benefit most, because they spend most of their time in the rev range an economy map improves.
